About
Place of conservation of the historical archives of the City and temporary exhibition space, the Maison Gribaldi is one of the last vestiges of old Evian.
Built at the time of the Renaissance, it retains mullioned windows topped by accolade lintels, a wooden gallery replaced identically during the 2013 renovation-extension and a beautiful stone spiral staircase inside. Leaning against the ramparts that surrounded the city, it probably belonged to Vespasien de Gribaldi, a friend of François de Sales, and former archbishop of Vienne in France, who gave it his name. It may have been an outbuilding of his nearby manor house on the corner of the upper street.
The historical and iconographic archives will be digitised and accessible to all from computer workstations. A valuable educational tool for research, schools and the public.
On the programme from 16 July to 6 November 2022 :
Exhibition "Contemporary glass art" around the Denise and Marcel Heider collection".
This exhibition, devoted to contemporary glass creations, is part of the special context of the donation of the "Denise and Marcel Heider" Collection to the City of Evian. It reflects the "spirit" of the Heider Collection while giving a coherent overview of the richness of this field of creation through more than one hundred singular works by the greatest creators. It also offers a selection of works by young creators, giving the event a transgenerational dimension.
