About

Every year in August, the theater offers "The Estivales Théâtrales" and boulevard comedies.

Evian is one of the first French spa towns to have a municipal theatre to meet the thermal resort clientèle's desire for distraction. Built on the plans of Jules Clerc, a French architect based in Vevey, the theater was inaugurated on July 1, 1885. With a capacity of about 400 places, it is built in artificial materials imitating stone and incorporates the latest technical innovations. It is then described as an "architectural jewel" that has nothing to envy the Parisian halls. Its Neo-Classical style respects the balance of proportions with ribbed pilasters and rich interior decoration where sculptures, mosaics, enamels and gilding illustrate the exuberant decorations of the time. It is listed as a historical monument.
